About TWRP APK
TWRP is an open-source community project. TWRP is currently being developed by about 4 people. There is also a large support community for support with lots of people to answer questions and help people with their tools, on our IRC channel or on forums like XDA-Developers.
Team Win was originally created to work on porting on the WiMAX CM7 for the HTC Evo 4G. After working on EVO 4G, we wanted to work on a project that would only work on more devices than EVO 4G and we agreed to work on restoration. Today TWRP is the leading custom recovery for Android phones.
Custom recovery is used to install custom software on your device. This custom software may include minor changes, such as rooting your device or replacing the device firmware with a full custom "ROM" such as firm minimum.
How can I use the app?
When you first open the app, you will be greeted by a few options. First of all, you must agree not to hold us responsible for everything that happens on your device while using the application. You can also grant root permission to the application. The app works without root, but some features like the flashing of images will be disabled. Finally, you can enable Insightcore (more on this feature later).
Once you've passed this home screen, you'll be greeted with the app's home screen where you can choose TWRP FLASH or network statistics (more on network statistics later). On the TWRP FLASH screen, you need to select a device. Once you select the device, the app will regularly check for new TWRP versions for the device you selected. The default interval is once a day, but you can tap the settings icon in the upper right corner to change the interval or turn off the update check altogether.
Once you enable root access, you'll see options and buttons for selecting an image to flash the selected image for booting or reinstalling. Note that you need to flash TWRP images for recovery. Flashing boot images are used to flash full boot images (not just kernel zigzags) and should not be used to flash TWRP.
