The car's motion is simulated at each wheel individually, which means you can either use the keyboard and/or mouse, but a steering wheel is more accurate. Force feedback is calculated directly from the forces, and no canned effects are used. You can feel what is happening at the contact patch between your tires and the road, so that you can ride as close to the limit as possible without going overboard!
A fast driver needs to brake well in advance of a corner or he'll end up somewhere he doesn't want to be. You need to go through any sequence of bends many times before you can figure out how to do it well.
Despite the fact that you can race alone, against the clock, or against an AI, many people prefer to race online, against real people in multiplayer mode. With LFS, you can do this very easily. Click on "List of Hosts", pick a server you like, and join right away. Most hosts run shorter races of a few laps, so you won't have to wait long for a restart. You can usually join most public servers mid-race. Don't get in the way of those who started the race before you! You can also join several online racing leagues if you want a more competitive environment.
A serious simulator must have a very good physics simulation to replicate the thrill and excitement of real racing. This is done by including all the important aspects of racing that are important. Live for Speed is constantly evolving. At the moment, S3 represents the third step towards our vision of the finished product, and it simulates racing very well. It covers a wide range of aspects: comprehensive setup possibilities, fuel consumption, tyre wear, crash damage, different surface types, intriguing racing environments, different classes of cars, etc. In this way, there is a wide selection of tracks where you can practice and learn. Depending on your car setup and driving style, you need to plan your pitstops - figure out how much fuel your car uses per lap and how your tyres behave on any track.
Live for Speed can be downloaded from our download page. The software will initially function as a demo, with access to three cars and one track environment. In order to access the other content, you will need to upgrade your license.

Our forum is a center of communication and an excellent resource for information, help, and additional downloads for the simulator. It doesn't stop at our forum - localized communities have sprung up all over the world. There are leagues on every continent, with events ranging from sprints to endurance races. Currently, we are working on S3, the third step toward our vision of the finished product. By simulating all aspects of motorsport, we hope to recreate the thrill and fun of motorsport. The Cars and the Tracks
During the Demo, you will have access to 3 cars and one racing environment that includes a road and a rallycross track. You can choose from three cars: a front-wheel drive hatchback, a rear-wheel drive road car, and a single-seater Formula BMW. The full S3 license gives you access to six more race tracks, a large test area, and 17 additional cars. An autocross area, skid pad, drag strip, and editor are all available in the test area.
