Smittestopp APK is a new smartphone application for iOS and Android. The app is designed to help health officials limit the spread of coronavirus, which has so far killed more than 150 people in Norway. Anonymous data on population movement patterns are used to develop effective infection control measures.
At a press conference today, Prime Minister Erna Solberg urged everyone in the country to download it. "Personally, I think if we were to get back to everyday life and freedom, as many people as possible would have to download the app."
How to work?
For example, a person installs an app on their phone. If he is officially diagnosed with Covid-19, the app can identify other app users who have been in contact with him before the diagnosis.
The app uses Bluetooth to find the smartphone's built-in location services as well as other nearby phones. In the days leading up to the diagnosis, a person designated as a "contact" will receive an SMS notification. It is important to say that the person receiving the SMS does not know that the person has been diagnosed.
This is in addition to the manual steps for infection control. The person is interviewed by the church at their home and tries to identify someone they know and are in contact with.

From test results to warning
Anyone who tests positive for coronary heart disease is referred to as the Infectious Disease Notification System (MSIS) in the National Health Register. This is done independently of the application and the legal obligations of the Health Register Act and the MSIS rules. Using a social security number, this information is linked to mobile phone numbers stored in the public contact and reservation register.

When people are informed that they were around an infected person, close contact is reported on the day of contact so that the time of quarantine can be calculated. In circumstances where some are in contact with others, we still cannot rule out the possibility that some of the proposed ones may understand who the infected person is.

In this version of the infection stop application, the contact is more than 15 minutes long at a distance of about two meters, which is defined as close contact. The app uses GPS position and Bluetooth proximity to record nearby contacts.
Your personal details
When you use infection control, the FHI processes personal information about you. More information can be found in the Smitestep Privacy Policy (link). The personal data collected may only be used for the purposes set forth in the Privacy Policy, not to monitor whether people follow the advice or instruction. Health information or location data is not made available to police, public prosecutors, insurance purposes, or employers. Personal information cannot be used commercially. Your personal data is not normally processed by humans.
Infection control collects the following personal information: cell phone number, age, GPS location, generated UID (unique ID that follows the phone number), operating system, version number, and phone model. Bluetooth data is logged in constant contact with other phones and the user becomes infected or comes in close contact with an infected person.
The epidemic increased insights
Anonymous data extracts from the application help monitor the spread of infection and evaluate the effectiveness of infection control measures at the population level. This data cannot be linked to individuals.
